Google Classroom Upgrades

Posted Date: 1/23/25 (7:29 PM)

Dear Barlow Students and Parents/Guardians,

We're excited to announce some improvements to how we use Google Classroom! These changes are designed to help students stay organized, manage their time effectively, and ultimately achieve greater academic success. These changes are also beneficial for the adults who support our students by keeping them informed about homework assignments and expectations.

Starting this semester, teachers will use Google Classroom in a more consistent way to post homework assignments. This means students can quickly see what's due on their Google Classroom homepage or by using the "To Do" feature. This works on the app too! Teachers will use a standardized system for naming assignments and communicating deadlines, making it easier for students to understand what's expected of them.

To help everyone become familiar with these changes,  we'll be sharing more information about these Google Classroom updates in two ways: Teachers will review the new procedures with students during class and Mrs. Brown, one of our Math and Technology teachers, has created a helpful video that will be shown during Friday's Advisory. This video will cover key topics like:

  • How assignments will be posted and named.

  • How homework deadlines will be communicated.

We believe these changes will make a real difference in helping students stay on top of their work and reach their full potential.

Sincerely,

Mario J. Almeida, Ed.D.
Assistant Superintendent, Head of School
